Thank you Riyaz. I knew it was not sitam as that did not fit the meter, however, I needed to be sure. I guess not knowing the word “sam” is what added to my confusion.

Its not Sitam but Sam, means Poison. Zindagi talkh sahii zaher sahii sam hii sahii

Hi Ishita, I’m not sure what explanation you need .. I did put in a glossary at the end to explain what the hard words mean. I think the philosophy behind the poem is very simple… the poet is telling his love (perhaps his girlfriend) that don’t be sad.. don’t talk about our failed love, don’t talk about what could have been, but rather look at the world … and the problems in the world.. these keep me occupied enough, you don’t need to talk about our failed love.
