Beekay sahib,

I have several versions of this nazm and they all say “daaman-e-dahar…”, I think you may have a wrong version of it.
The lines you provided, especially the second one (nasoor jazb hai…) is not in the same meter as this whole nazm, it is definitely a mistake in your book.

The “shair” beginning with ‘Daaman-e-dahar pe….’ is different in the urdu version I have. It reads: “Seena dhar ke nasoor haiN….nasoor Jazb hai in me tere mare ajdad ka khoon.” Was Taj Mahal written in two different versions? Please help me. Thank you…..Beekay Srinivas.

What a beautiful poeam. No one every looked at Taj Mahal with the sight of Sahir, the poet of the poor and oppressed.
